Duda Yankovich Arrives in Albuquerque!
May 31, 2009

(MAY 31) Today Duda Yankovich and her team from Brazil arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in anticipation of her fighting multi-world champion Holly Holm, of New Mexico,  on June 5th.

Yankovich said, "I did not travel over 10,000 miles to lose. I expect to win and get some respect from the boxing community."

"We plan on shocking Brazil and the world this Friday at the Isleta Casino and Resort", added Yankovich.

Yankovich will be coming into the fight against Holm with an undefeated record of 11-0-0 (5 KO), and holder of the WIBA World Junior Welterweight Title. Before turning pro, Duda was a highly respected kickboxer, winning a gold medal in the 2000 Pan-American open amateur kickboxiing championship, and gold medals in the South American Amateur Kickboxing Championship in both 2001 and 2003. She got involved in amateur boxing in 2003.

A coach from one of the Brazilian national male teams saw her in an exhibition match and invited her to train as a boxer. Duda went on to become the Brazilian 140-lb amateur boxing champion for the first time in 2002, then repeated her success in 2003 and 2004.  More on Duda Yankovich  and Holly Holm.
