(AUG 27) FresquezProductions.com
recently caught up with New Mexico Jr. Middleweight prospect
Arturo "El Torro" Crespin who fights this Friday in Las Vegas,
NM on the "Perseverance" Holm VS Blair II undercard against
Freddie Cisneros.
FP: Hello Arturo, thank you for taking time out of your day to
answer a few questions for us. Can you tell us about little bit
about how you got started in boxing and some of your
accomplishments as an amateur?
AC: I have been boxing since I was eight years old and have
compiled a record of around 120 wins and around 30 losses. I've
won 4 National Silver Glove titles, 2 National Junior Golden
Gloves titles and the Ringside World Championships in Oklahoma.
FP: In your last fight you fought Carlos Sanchez, what happened
in that fight?
AC: No excuses, he won that night, but it was a learning
experience for me. I chose to lose 25 five pounds within two
weeks. Going into the weigh ins i hadn't ate or drank a thing
for two whole days. I felt good in the first round, i beat him
pretty easy. Then my body just shut down, I didn't have it. My
mind wanted it, but my body just couldn't do it. I don't wish
that feeling upon anyone, it was so awful! It was hard for me to
deal with the loss, it was embarrassing. I'm taking it as a
learning experience and not going to let it happen again.
FP: Who have you been sparring with to prepare for your upcoming
fight?
AC: I've been working with some fighters from Jackson's gym,
Joaquin Zamora, also Timothy Meaks out of El Paso.
FP: Who are you training with?
AC: My trainer is my father Carlos Crespin, and when attending
school in Las Cruces my trainer is Louie Burke, also get help
from Rick Vasquez and Sammy Dipace.
FP: What are your thoughts on your opponent Freddie Cisneros?
AC: Well I don't know much about Freddie other than I hear he is
speedy. I am not underestimating him and no matter what I will
come out victorious.
FP: Who has been your biggest inspiration as a boxer?
AC: Mike Tyson has a big impact on me just the way he use to
train and how dedicated he was and the power he had was
tremendous.
FP: What do you like to do when you are not boxing?
AC: Free time i like to do outdoor stuff. You name it fishing,
hunting, snowboarding all that stuff.
FP: Are you currently in school?
AC: I am currently attending New Mexico State University
majoring in civil engineering.
FP: Alright that's it Turry, thank you for your time and good
luck this Friday.
AC: Thanks. |
