In a very exciting night at Route 66
Casino Hotel, on the “DOUBLE THREAT” MMA card headlining Keith
Jardine, pound for pound boxing champion Holly “The Preacher’s
Daughter” Holm picked up her first mixed martial arts victory on
Friday night, March 4th, 2011 with a convincing stoppage of credible
competitor Christina “Machine Gun” Domke in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Holm (29-1-3 Boxing; 1-0-0 MMA) pelted her opponent with an
effective arsenal of straight punches combined with and leg kicks
that wore Domke (4-2-0) down over the course of the first round.
The crowd held their breath as Domke
managed to mount Holm, but Holm quickly manipulated an escape and
returned to her feet to the delight of the crowd. Holm continued to
display her excellent striking skills until she landed a final vicious
leg kick and dropped Domke, thus ending the fight by the referee with a
TKO victory for Holly Holm. Holm triumphed in her cage debut in front of
a historical record-breaking sell-out crowd.
Unlike many professional boxers before
her, Holly showed that she possesses superior fighting skills and she
was able to accomplish the transition from boxing to mixed martial arts
successfully. Holm’s promoter, Lenny Fresquez feels that after 4 or 5
more MMA fights for Holly and she’ll be ready for an MMA Championship. |
