Final Word!

First, I would
like to thank all the fans that have supported women's boxing.
It is very different from men's boxing. If you told me 10 years
ago that a female would be the star of my stable, I would have
said you were crazy.
In a recent press release, Mary Jo Sanders’ team claimed they
had offered Holly Holm a fight. It is just a flat out LIE! I
have never spoken to anyone from the Sanders’ camp. We would
have no problem fighting Sanders. They have done a good job on
promoting her and putting her with the right opponents. We would
welcome a fight with her, if the price is right.
They are like other female boxers, obsessed with fighting Laila
Ali. Sanders needs to become her own person and stop chasing
someone that is not interested in real fights. You can’t really
blame them when they make the type of money they do, taking no
risk.
Holly Holm is only interested in fighting the best female
fighters out there, win or lose. She ducks no one, and as for
not fighting out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, we would be happy
to do so if she can earn more money then she is making here.
There are only a handful of female fighters that can get paid
this type of money and fortunately, Holly is one of them.
We were supposed to go to a purse bid on December 15th with Mary
Joe Sanders’ camp, but before this day came, they told WBC that
they were no longer able to make this weight and were moving up
in weight. Sanders relinquished her WBC Title. “This is a fact.”
Holly really wants to prove to everyone she is the best female
fighter, hands down. If you look at WBAN's ratings, their
ranking system makes this very clear! Holly Holm has the most
points of any other female boxer on their system.
We are not trying to put a spin on anything except to make sure
the public knows the truth. Very simply, we wanted to fight
Sanders and they declined the purse bid.
We made Laila Ali a substantial offer and it was turned down
because of a prior commitment. In the future we hope we can make
one of these fights, but Holly's career is not going to be put
on hold chasing others. We simply will continue to fight the
best possible opposition out there between 140 and 154 lbs, with
the exception of Ali.
In March we plan on unifying all the Titles at 147 lbs and then
we’ll decide what to do after that fight. We hope this puts a
clear picture out there for everyone, and puts a stop to the
lies and innuendoes.
